Day 1
Celebrate in the old-world manner of the late 1800’s with lunch at Tippecanoe Place in South Bend, IN. Tour the festively decorated mansion built by Clem Studebaker in 1889, and discover it’s rich and colorful history. Visit the Menno-Hof Museum and discover facts about the lifestyles and beliefs of both Amish & Mennonites. Arrive at the charming Blue Gate Inn, for a two night stay. The inn is delightfully decorated in beautiful country style and festively decked out for Christmas. Bring your appetite to dinner at the Blue Gate Inn. Enjoy a professional performance of Christmas in Paradise at the Blue Gate Theater.
Day 2
Breakfast at the inn. Guided back roads Amish Country tour to see Amish folk in plain dress, simple white homes and farmsteads, black buggies, and Amish country schoolhouses. Stops made at Yoder Popcorn Shop, a Quilt Shop, B & L Woodcrafters where you will try your hand at woodworking by building a birdhouse - no experience necessary! Your creation will be carefully boxed to take home. Free afternoon in Shipshewana to explore the charming shops, restaurants and mercantiles. See it all from the leisurely pace of a horse drawn carriage. Motorcoach shuttles provided to shops in town and to hotel. Family style dinner in an Amish Home with a Christmas Cookie Making Demonstration. There will be cookies to take home! Exciting live holiday performance at the Shipshewana Event Center starring the Texas Tenors.
Day 3
Breakfast at the inn. Visit Rise n Roll Amish Bakery for fresh baked breads and sweet baked treats as well as Amish noodles, apple butter & a variety of Amish made preserves. Next stop Guiggesburg-Das Kase Haus Cheese Shop to sample Amish made products & purchase some to take home. Lunch at the Das Dutchman Essenhaus with free time to browse the shops and see the holiday decorations. Enjoy a holiday-themed theater production at The Essenhaus Heritage Hall.
