Day 1 - Arrival in MEmphis

Flight to Memphis. Arrive at Sheraton Memphis Downtown for 1 night. Dinner.

DAY 2

Breakfast at hotel. Guided tour of Memphis & Beale Street. Tour Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion, two custom jets, auto museum, and his gravesite. Board the American Queen.

Day 3 - Greenville, MS

Shore Excursion: Small Towns & Big Legends

Port of the Mississippi Delta/Greenville, MS. On arrival here, enjoy live Gospel music. Journey to Indianola, hometown of B.B. King — “King of the Blues.” Visit B.B. King Museum & Delta Interpretive Center. Enjoy a local blues performance at Club Ebony where Ray Charles, Count Basie and B.B. King performed.

Day 4 - Vicksburg, MS

SHORE EXCURSION: On the Front Lines of the Civil War

Explore Vicksburg National Military Park and National Cemetery. Tour the USS Cairo and Museum, an iron clad riverboat raised from the depths of the Mississippi River.

Day 5 - Natchez, MS

Shore Excursion: Charming Natchez

Natchez is the oldest city on the Mississippi River and known for elegance, hospitality and impressive preservation of history. Enjoy unique shops and restaurants and explore Rosalie Mansion, Johnson Museum, Stanton Hall, King’s Tavern, and Magnolia Hall.

Day 6 - St. Francisville, LA

Shore Excursion: Explore St. Francisville

St. Francisville today is a testament to the lifestyle of a bygone era with over 140 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. This quaint town is situated on the bluffs of the Mississippi River. Visit Royal Street, Old Market Hall, West Feliciana Museum and Grace Episcopal Church.

Day 7 - Baton Rouge, LA

Shore Excursion: Best of Baton Rouge

Explore the diversity of the energetic port of Baton Rouge by visiting the USS Kidd, Capitol Park Museum, Louisiana’s State Capitol, LSU Museum of Art and LSU Rural Life Museum.

Day 8 - Louisiana Plantations

Shore Excursion: Grand Southern Plantation Tour

Journey through sugar cane fields to tour stately Nottoway Plantation followed by Houmas House and gardens with a southern-style lunch there. Next, visit Oak Alley Plantation including The Slavery at Oak Alley and Civil War Exhibits, as well as the impressive alley of 300 year old live oaks.

Day 9 - New Orleans, LA

This morning disembark the American Queen. Guided tour of New Orleans. Free time to enjoy the French Quarter. Arrive at the landmark Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter for 1 night.

Day 10 - Flight Home

Breakfast at hotel. Flight home.

American Classic Tours is based out of Chicago. Because many of our travelers are from the greater Chicagoland Area, all of our tours begin at one of Chicago’s airports. If you are from out of state or country, you can join us via a “land-only” tour package. A “land-only” tour is the exact same as our “all-inclusive” tour except it does not include airfare. Your tour director will meet you at your destination and lead you to meet the rest of the group on the first day of the tour.
